Lighthouse

OK.  So I do love black and white.  When I was in Florida over a year ago we went to this black and white light house.  Now it was huge!  (especially the climb), but it was also fun to take pictures of especially with the sky the way it was.  Now I did take this picture with a film camera so again the quality is not the same my new camera.

  1. Hi Liz and friends,
The next time you are in Florida stop in and see Ponce de Leon Lighthouse, 11 miles south of Daytona Beach. From Highway I-95 get off at Port Orange, go east across the Intercoastal Waterway and go south 4 miles. They are open from 10 AM to sunset, unless thare is an evening event. See their website. http://www.PonceInlet.org In my opinion, Ponce has the best lighthouse museum on east side of the USA. The tower is the 2nd tallest in the East Coast on the east coast. But, it’s RED BRICK !
Just north of Ft. Lauderdale at Pompano Beach, Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse is stall an active USCG Light station and visitation is hard to get. The Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society, Inc. (HLPS) has an agreement to bring the public to the station by boat at special dates agreed upon in advance, about 6 times a year. Check out HLPS’ website, http://www.HillsboroLighthouse.org HLPS next tour is Sat. 16 August 2008. Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse is also black & white.
    Good Luck.

P.S. I lived in the Winter Park, FL from 1925 until I went to war in WW-2, and many a weekend we would spent it at a Gulf or Atlantic beaches some with lighthouses near by.

  2. Thank you I will!
